Abstract

917,504. Potato &c. peeling machines. DE MILLE & CO. Ltd., NOEL, and DE MILLE, N. J. Sept. 22, 1961 [Sept. 22, 1960], No. 32560/60. Class 28 (2). A machine for peeling potatoes and the like of the centrifugal type having a rotatable table 18 in the bottom of an abrasive lined cylindrical container 10 comprises a potato discharge passage-way 17 bridging the container 10 and one face of its outer casing 11 and, below the rotatable table 18, a table drive motor 13 and a peelage trap compartment 15. Water is fed into the machine through a duct 35 and passes out together with the peelings through a discharge opening 24 situated above a perforated box-shaped trap 36. The bottom of the trap com partment 15 is shaped to form a discharge spout 23. The passageway 17 is fitted with two doors 29 and 31 connected together by a link 32 and pivoted at their top ends by pins 28. The doors are opened by lifting a handle 34 which releases a latch 33 by raising it against the influence of a spring- biased rod 33a. A cover 37 may be hinged or removable.
