Abstract

556,659. Peeling potatoes &c. WAITE, J. N. June 9, 1942, No. 7873. [Class 28 (ii)] A machine for peeling potatoes &c. comprising a water containing tank a, a rotatable drum c for receiving the potatoes, an inner cylinder m mounted concentrically within the drum and means for rotating the drum either mechanically or manually, the inner surface of the drum and the outer surface of the inner cylinder being provided with burrs, and apertures being provided in the walls of the drum for allowing the peelings to pass therethrough, is characterised in that the cylindrical portion of the drum comprises a number of slats or bars f each of channel section spaced apart from one another to provide the apertures.' The drum may have closed ends and may have a longitudinal portion hinged to form a door n. In a modification, the drum is open ended and is mounted in an inclined position, the potatoes being fed in through a hopper at the higher end and delivered through the lower end. A removable cover may be fitted over the mouth of the tank.
