Abstract

1,022,236. Seed sowing machines. C. VAN DER LELY N.V. Feb. 27, 1963 [Feb. 27, 1962], No. 7956/63. Heading A1D. A seed sewing machine comprises a number of seed tubes 47 which are attached to units 41 containing furrow opener 42, seed nozzle 46, roller 43, the units being attached to "lazy tongs" 24, 25 so that all the units may be simultaneously adjusted. In the embodiment shown two hoppers are provided which are transversally slidable by guides 1, 2 and rollers 12 as the units 41 are adjusted. Each hopper comprises a number of drums 57 with holes 61 to which adhere seeds, a vacuum pump being connected to a hollow shaft 56 on which the drums are mounted. Seeds are disengaged from the drum by a rotatable brush 74 so that they fall in a guiding flap 77 and down the tube 47. The flap 77 may be moved to cover the tube 47 when the seeds on the drum will be returned to the hopper.
