Abstract

916,963. Windscreen-wipers. O'SHEI, W. E. May 5, 1959 [May 5, 1958], No. 14323/58. Class 138 (1). To eliminate rattle a windscreen-wiper arm, or bridge-piece, which is connected to a wiper holder, or yoke, by means of a rivet, is provided with resilient means which press the rivet against the apertures in the holder or yoke. A wiper blade 1 has embedded reinforcing strips 4 and has recesses 13 to provide extra flexibility where the ends 7 of the yokes 6 are bent under for attachment. Longitudinal movement of the blade 1 in the yokes is prevented by protrusions 12 having ridges 15 which bend inwardly to allow attachment of the yokes. The rivet 8 connecting the yoke 6 to the bridge-piece 9 is pressed against the rivet apertures by means of a spring 18. Alternatively, in Fig. 4 (not shown), the spring 18 may be replaced by a resilient, e.g. rubber block. The resilient means may be provided at all pivotal connections.
