In a combine-harvester of the type having a transverse apron 13 and elevator 15 feeding crop to a beater 17 and concave 18, a stonecatching trough 20 is arranged across part of the width of the entry edge of the concave, The trough extends along approximately onethird of the length of the concave in the side facing the crop so that butt-ends of the crop, where stones are more prevalent, will pass thereover. The trough which may be covered by a grid 21 flush with the concave, when not in use, is deeper at its forward side and has a sloping floor, Fig. 4 (not shown).
