915,292. Pouring devices; venting. COVERDALE & CO. Ltd. May 9, 1960 [May, 21, 1959], No. 17305/59. Classes 21 and 125(3). A pouring device for a bottle 4 comprises a chamber 1 open to the interior of the bottle, a pouring spout 5 closed by a ball valve 6, and an air vent containing an air-purifying substance 8a, e.g. treated cotton wool through which incoming air passes before entering the bottle. Bonded to the chamber 1 is a bush 2, for fitting to different sizes of bottle, formed of pliable plastics material or cork, the chamber 1 being of metal or plastics material. The air-purifying substance is contained in a renewable capsule 8 fitted with a rigid plastics vent tube 9 and having an air inlet 10 at its upper end. The air vent may be fitted outside the chamber 1, Fig. 5 (not shown), without a vent tube 9.
