Abstract

A fluid-pressure regulator, such as for use in oxygen therapy equipment, comprises a housing 15 having an inlet for connection to a source of fluid under pressure and an outlet 26, a valve seat 2, a valve member 5, and a diaphragm 19 subjected on one side to the fluid pressure in the outlet urging it in a direction to allow the valve to close and, on the other side, to a loading force urging it in a direction to open the valve, the housing comprising two cooperating parts 14, 15 made, e.g. from lightalloy sheet metal, each having a radially outwardly-directed flange, one of the flanges having a lip crimped around the other flange to prevent separation of the flanges and to retain the periphery of the diaphragm between them in fluid-tight manner. The valve member 5, which may be of stainless steel, is mounted in a screwed nozzle 1 connected to the end of a container 9, the valve being urged by the pressure of fluid in the container and by a spring 7 into contact with a seat 2. The diaphragm is loaded by a spring 22 in order to provide the desired outlet pressure.
