<PICT:0913723/IV (b)/1> <PICT:0913723/IV (b)/2> A textile fabric web 14b, Fig. 8, is coated or impregnated with a synthetic resin, e.g. by spraying or by roller-coating, Fig. 5, the coated web being passed round a perforated drum 12b rotating in a stationary casing 13b, the peripheral space between the drum and the casing being divided by radial partitions 8b into treatment chambers 1b . . . . 7b, e.g. for heating, cooling, or calendering. In one embodiment the liquid resin is sprayed in the chamber 1b either directly on to the web or into the air-stream circulated by a blower 9b. Heating elements, e.g. electric induction heaters, are located in the chambers 2b and 5b . . . 7b to dry and condense the coating, and heating or cooling means are located in the chamber 3b. Heated calender rollers 17b of adjustable temperature and pressure are provided. In a modification, Fig. 5, the web 14a is pre-heated by infra-red and coated by a roller 17a before entering the casing, where it is heated and cooled. In another modification, Fig. 1 (not shown), the apparatus is similar to that shown in Fig. 8, but the rollers 17b are omitted. The speed of the web and the temperature and velocity of the circulating air are adjustable, and the casing 13b may be provided with adjustable air intakes and outlets. The drum may have internal partitions. It is stated that a porous coated textile fabric may be produced by the invention, the pores being formed by air drawn through the coated web by the blower 9b. The rolls 17b may be patterned or may be glazing or embossing rolls.
