Abstract

A decorative trimming strip comprises a transversely pleated flexible band 11 composed at least partly of thermoplastic material, each pleat 12 consisting of three superimposed layers welded together at a single weld region 13, the weld regions being separate from one another and extending over only part of the width of the band. The band 11 may consist wholly of thermoplastic material or of a fabric impregnated with such a material, and the thermal action of the high-frequency welding may be supplemented by the use of an adhesive. The weld regions 13 may be T-shaped, rectangular, circular or cross-shaped and may serve to secure an auxiliary band 15 on one or both faces of the band 11. The free face of the band 15 may have a self-adhesive coating protected by a removable foil 16, or a dry adhesive coating. In a modification, both faces of the band 15 have a self-adhesive coating. One face of the pleated band 11 may be coated with an adhesive.
