Abstract

912,518. Centrifugal pumps. SIEMEN & HINSCH. Nov. 28, 1960 [Dec. 1, 1959], No. 40837/60. Class 110 (1). An impeller, particularly for partial-admission pumps, comprises blades in which the trailing side provides a plane surface 3 the width b of which is equal to at least one-third of the blade width B and which when viewed in cross-section through the blade perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the blade extends parallel to a straight line X-X through the edges of the leading side 1. Instead of being concave as shown, the leading side may be flat or convex. The trapezoidal portion 2 of the cross-section may instead be rectangular. A rim 4 extends at least along the lateral edges of the blade. A reinforcing rib 5 may be provided. The blades may be inclined forwardly or backwardly with respect to the direction of rotation, curved or twisted.
