Abstract
1,263,405. Sugar aerators. SIMON-HARTLEY Ltd. 18 Jan., 1971 [13 Feb., 1970], No. 7028/70. Heading B1C. A rotatable surface aerator has an inverted frusto-conical body 10 with an outwardly projecting flange 13 and a plurality of angularly spaced blades 15 attached to its underside and extending from the central region to its periphery, each blade having a plate 16 extending at least part of its length and over both sides of the blade. As shown the depth of the blade decreases in both directions from a lowermost point, to nothing at its inner end, and the plates extend inwardly as far as the lowermost point. The blades are tangential to a central circular plate (12, Fig. 3, not shown). In operation, air is drawn down the U- shaped duct on the trailing side of the blade; the aerator may be rotated in either direction with differing power consumption and oxygen transfer rates.
