Abstract
912,435. Clamp fastenings. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Oct. 7, 1960 [Oct. 9, 1959], No. 34504/60. Class 44. A fastener for securing an article e.g. a wire, tube or the like to a support 7 is formed from a single piece of resilient insulating material and comprises a base portion 1, a clamping finger 2 extending from one face of the base portion, a latch portion 4 on the end of the clamping finger remote from the base portion and means 3 for attaching the fastener to the support extending from the opposite face of the base portion, the latch portion being engageable with the support or the base portion on the opposite side of the base portion to that on which the clamping finger extends to clamp the article between the clamping finger and the base portion. As shown the attaching means 3 is a finger which is attached to the base portion by a connecting portion 10 the support being gripped between the finger and the base portion. In a modification however the attaching means is a boss of non-circular cross-section and the support has an aperture of similar shape the boss being inserted through the aperture and the fastener turned through 90 degrees this action causing the wall around the aperture to cut grooves into opposite sides of the boss to prevent axial withdrawal of the fastener. The latch portion 4 is shown engaging the support but alternatively it can engage the base portion directly.
