A belt-driven pulley 5 of a walk-type tractor is driven through a clutch from an I.C. engine, the pulley rotating a shaft 22 from which a shaft 24 is driven through gears 21 and 25. A shaft 29, which may be arranged as a power take-off shaft, is driven by engaging one or other gears 23 or 23<SP>1</SP> with gear 26 or 28 to provide two speeds, or by engaging gear 23<SP>1</SP> with gear 301 which, through gear 30 rotates gear 28 in reverse. A sprocket 27 on shaft 29 is connected by a chain 31 to a sprocket 59 integral with a hub 59<SP>1</SP> which carries a pair of bevel gears 67 on a shaft 68 which are in mesh with a bevel gear formed on a half shaft 71 and a bevel gear 72 pivotally mounted on a half shaft 77. The half shaft 77 and the member 72 have splined portions so that they may be connected together by a sliding clutch member 60. The clutch member 60 also has dog clutch teeth 60<SP>1</SP> which may be brought into engagement with corresponding teeth 59<SP>11</SP> on the hub 59<SP>1</SP> so that in three positions of the clutch member 60, (1) the differential is ineffective and the power take-off shaft 29 is used; (2) in which 77 and 72 only are connected which provides an ordinary differential gear and (3) in which 60<SP>1</SP> and 59<SP>11</SP> are connected when the whole differential gear is locked. The clutch member 60 and sliding double gear 14 are operated by gear shift forks 80 and 82 attached to shafts 76 and 87 respectively which are operated by levers 83 and 84 connected by linkwork to the tractor handle. The shaft 85 is mounted in a spherical bearing 85 attached to the gear casing 20 and the shaft 87 has a spherical head 87<SP>1</SP> seating in a cylindrical bush 88 attached to an outer casing containing the gear-box 20.
