Abstract

910,844. Collapsible trays. NEW MERTON BOARD MILLS Ltd. Feb. 13, 1961 [March 24, 1960; Sept. 14, 1960], Nos. 10505/60 and 31667/60. Class 18. A collapsible tray formed from a blank has triangular sockets at its corners for the insertion of upstanding posts, the sockets being formed as an integral part of the blank. The sockets 13 are formed from the inner walls of double side walls 5, 6 which are glued together. To erect the box flaps 10, 12 are turned inwards and sandwiched between walls 3, 4, walls 4 being cut back to form ears 7 so that flaps 10 form the sockets 13. Wooden posts 14 inserted into sockets 13 then bear against ears 7 to prevent the tray from collapsing. Apertures 17 cut in bottom 1 are covered by flaps 16 hinged to the wall 4. When a number of trays are stacked the upper ends of the posts 14 enter the apertures 17 to bear against the flaps 16 whereby the trays are aligned and positively held in position one above another. Alternatively diagonal slits only are formed across the corners to form triangular bearing surfaces for the supporting posts; flaps 16 may then be omitted from the blank.
