Abstract
910,776. Oil-blast switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. Dec. 15, 1960 [Dec. 16, 1959], No. 43157/60. Class 38 (5). An oil circuit-breaker has an extinguishing chamber 1 including a plurality of pressure chambers 2 each partly filled with oil to a level controlled by openings 11 and with gas in the closed space above the oil. Each chamber 2 has a connecting channel 7 through which oil is forced at current zero into the arc passage 6 after the fixed contact 5 is withdrawn. Outlet channels 8, 9 between the chambers 2 exhaust to the surrounding oil, adjacent channels being spaced by 90 degrees to separate exhaust gases. The port of the chamber 1 around the fixed contact 4 is vented at 10 and the other end of the chamber 1 includes oil pockets 12 to assist in the extinction of low current arcs.
