Abstract

910,761. Chain conveyers. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. Feb. 21, 1961 [March 9, 1960], No. 8335/60. Class 104 (2). [Also in Group IX] Apparatus for use with apparatus for coiling textile sliver into cans comprises an endless conveyer J bringing cans into position beneath a coiler H1, removing each can when full and transporting it to a storage position or to a subsequent processing machine, (see Group IX). The cans K, preferably rectangular and divided by partitions K1, as shown, are mounted on wheels and are fed one-by-one to the coiling station by the conveyer track J operated by a driven, endless chain 10. A can K is located at the coiling station by the impingement of one pair of stops K<SP>2</SP> thereon against retractable abutments 21 supported by levers 22 beneath the floor and operated by solenoids 23. After a predetermined length of sliver has entered one compartment of the can, abutments 181, 191 on gears 18, 19 respectively come into contact so that the gear 19 is displaced to operate a switch 20 to start the chain 10 and energize a switch 17 which energizes the solenoids 23 at the next traverse of the coiler H1. The abutments 21 are retracted and the can is moved along the floor by the engagement of a dog 15 on the chain 10 with an abutment 16 on the can K until an empty compartment is positioned beneath the coiler H1. A switch 24 is released by a plate 25 fixed to the can to de-energize the solenoids and raise the abutments 21. The abutment 181 then engages an abutment 261 on a gear 26 so that a switch 27 stops the chain 10. The abutment 16 is connected to a rod 161 by springs 162 to allow the abutment to yield if engaged by a dog 15 when the can is held by abutments 21. To move the can from beneath the coiler H1 manually the abutments 21 are retracted by a pedal 28 and abutments 16 raised by a handle 29. Conventional means for guiding the cans around the corners of the track J may be provided. Specifications 812,644, 910,759 and 910,762 are referred to.
