Abstract

773,092. Loading pallets. MEDWAY PAPER SACKS, Ltd. Nov. 29, 1955 [Nov. 29, 1954], No. 34548/54. Class 94(1). A device for facilitating the loading of pallets &c. comprises a carriage 5 reciprocated between a loading position (as shown) and an unloading position, the carriage having mounted on it a turntable 9 for supporting a pallet, and the turntable being given a partial revolution during its traverse away from and towards the loading position so that a fresh portion of the pallet area will be presented for loading. The carriage 5 runs on rollers 4 on a frame 1 and is reciprocated by crank means 15, 16 driven by a motor 3. The turntable is supported by rollers 10 and has pins 19 protruding from its underside. Articles to be loaded, such as sacks, are fed to the loading position by a conveyer (not shown) and placed singly on a pallet on the turntable. A switch is thrown either by an operator or by the conveyer to initiate a single complete reciprocating movement. As the carriage travels away from the loading position, one of the pins 19 engages an abutment 26 causing the turntable to rotate and bringing the following pin 19 in line with a guide rail 24. On the return of the carriage, the following pin trips the abutment 26 as it travels along the rail 24. The loading end of the conveyer may rise intermittently to facilitate stacking several layers of articles on the pallet. Specification 770,001 is referred to.
