Abstract

1,228,766. Conveying sliver cans. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. 6 Aug., 1968 [14 Aug., 1967], No. 37184/67. Heading D1F. Sliver cans are transported continuously between a drawframe D and a flyer frame F in an arrangement comprising a plurality of trolleys 1-55 each of which carries a plurality of cans in a line and a means for guiding the trolleys successively through a coiling station 60 from a supply station on one side and a discharge station on the other so that each can in turn is brought beneath a coiling unit. The flyer frame F is in front of and to one side of the drawframe D and has its longitudinal axis parallel to the path of the trolleys through the coiling station 60. A first conveyor CH1 is arranged behind the flyer F to move trolleys with empty cans (the sliver having been used by the flyers) from the rear of the flyer F to a transfer station T. At T they are disengaged from the first conveyor and picked up by a second conveyor CH2 and brought into cooperative relation with a trolley indexing mechanism for moving the trolleys through the coiling station 60. As shown, the trolleys are set up in a plurality of blocks of trolleys behind the flyer frame F. In front of and behind the trolley blocks there are inclined paths sloping away from the trolleys, the trolleys carrying cams containing sliver (shown as heavy circles) rest against rail 56. Trolleys carrying empty sliver cans (shown as light circles) are moved manually from the blocks onto the front inclined path against rail 59 to be picked up by conveyor chain CHI. One conveyor chains CH1, CH2 are controlled by microswitches. The trolleys are moved through the coiler 60 by pneumatic jacks.
