Description

ADDaratus f or trans-Dortina at least one can between textile machines The
invention relates to an apparatus for transporting at least one can between a first textile machine, especially a sliver-supplying textile machine, for example, a carding machine, and a second textile machine, especially a sliver-fed textile machine, for example, a draw frame. In such an apparatus, a can may be transpor- ted by means of transport cars, a car with empty cans being supplied to the sliver-supplying textile machine and another car with full cans being supplied to the sliver-fed textile machine.
In practice, the empty cans are pushed individually and manually in front of the take-in side of the can changer at a carding machine. That is demanding in terms of labour and, if an empty can is not provided in time, may lead to undesirable delays in operation.
The problem on which the invention is based is, therefore, to provide an apparatus of the type described in the introduction that avoids or mitigates the abovementioned disadvantages and that, especially, makes an empty can available to the can changer at all times in a simple manner.
The invention provides an apparatus for transporting at least one can between a first textile machine and a second textile machine by means of transport cars, comprising means for inclining a can-carrying surface of a car in relation to the first textile machine.
The invention also provides an apparatus for 35 transporting at least one can between a sliver-supplying textile machine, for example a carding machine, and a sliver-f ed textile machine, f or example a draw f rame, by means of transport cars, a transport car with empty cans being supplied to the sliver-supplying textile machine and another transport car with full cans being supplied to the sliver-fed textile machine, characterised in that the car with the empty cans is so arranged in relation to the spinning machine (carding machine) that the plane surface of the car slopes downwards in the direction towards the sliver-supplying spinning machine (carding machine).
Owing to the downward slope in the direction of the can changer, there is an empty can available at all times that can be taken in by the can changer. once that empty can has been taken in, the sloping plane surface causes the succeeding can to proceed to the can changer automatically. Both the presentation and feeding of empty cans without manual intervention are made possible thereby, and this leads to a considerable improvement in opera- tional reliability and efficiency.
The car with the empty cans is advantageously arranged on a downward sloping surface. An upward ramp is preferably connected upstream of the downward sloping surface. The car for the full cans is advantageously associated with the textile machine (for example, carding machine) in such a manner that the plane surface of the car slopes downwards in the direction away from the textile machine (carding machine). A can changer that conveys the empty cans from the empty-can car and the full cans onto the full-can car is preferably associated with the carding machine. A change- over apparatus that conveys the full cans from the full-can car and the empty cans onto the empty-can car is advantageously associated with the draw frame (draw frame creel). One end face of the car with the empty cans preferably abuts against the textile machine. A locking and release device, for example a catch, coupling device or the like, for stopping and/or for the further travel of the cars is advantageously provided. The car preferably has an upright rim-like border on one face of one end edge and at the other end edge is open. The border at the end edge advantageously has an upright grip member for pushing the car. The car preferably has an upright rimlike border on one face of each of its two long sides.
The cars are advantageously driven and travel in a controlled manner back and forward between the textile machines. The drive devices for the cars, for example, electric motors, and/or the can-change devices and/or coupling, locking and release devices for the cars are preferably connected to a common carding machine and/or draw frame control means.
The invention further provides a textile installation including a textile machine, a first transport car for supplying cans to the machine and a second transport car onto which cans are loaded after fibre material has been removed from or deposited in the cans, the installation further having means for inclining a can- carrying surface of the first car downwards in a direction towards the textile machine and/or means for inclining a cancarrying surface of the second car downwards in a direction away from the machine.
The invention still further provides a method of supplying cans to a textile machine, in which a transport car having a can-carrying surface and carrying a plurality of cans on the said surface is moved towards the machine, the can-carrying surface of the transport car is inclined downwards in a direction towards the machine, and a first can is removed from the car, an adjacent can sliding down the inclined surface to the position from which the first can has been removed.
Certain embodiments of the invention will be described below, by way of example, with reference to the 5 accompanying drawings, of which:
Fig. la is a side view of a carding machine with a can changer and an empty-can car; Fig. lb is a side view of a carding machine with a can changer and a full- can car; Fig. 1c is a top view of an apparatus including a can changer, an empty- can car and a full-can car; is Fig. 2 Fig. 3 shows a lifting means for a car-carrying apparatus; shows a lifting device for the empty-can car; and Fig. 4 shows diagrammatically a carding machine and draw frame control device to which the drive devices for the can transport car or cars and the can changers at the carding machines and draw frames are connected electrically.
Fig. la shows a carding machine 1, for example, a machine of the type made by Tratzschler GmbH & Co. KG and known as the EXACTACARD DK 740, to which a can changer 2, for example, a rotary can changer, is connected. In front of the take-in side of the can changer 2 for the empty cans 3a, 3b, 3c is a transport car-carrying device 4 comprising two guide rails 41, 411 (see Fig. 1c), which together form in the direction of the can changer 2 (arrow A) an upward ramp 4a and a downward sloping surface 4b. Shown on the sloping surface 4b is an emptycan car 5 with rollers 5b, 5c, on which the empty cans 3a to 3c are arranged. The car 5 has a plane surface that receives the cans and supports them during transport. As 5 a result of the action of gravity, the empty cans 3a to 3c and the empty-can car 5 press against the can changer 2 in the direction of the arrow A. As shown in Fig. lb, there is extending from the ejection side of the can changer 2 a sloping surface 13, on which the full-can car 6 is arranged, for the cans 3e, 3f, 3g filled with sliver F. The full-can car 6 may also be arranged to be horizontal, a full can 3e to 3g being pushed in the direction of the arrow B by the cross handle 2a of the can changer 2 onto the car 6. The guide rails 41, 411 shown in Fig. lc diverge at their leading ends, in order to facilitate the operation of introducing the wheels 5b, 5c of the empty-can car.
In the embodiment shown in Fig. 2, a ramp 7 is connected in front of the take-in side of the can changer 2, one end of which ramp is rotatably mounted in a pivot bearing 8. A pneumatic (or hydraulic) cylinder 9 acts from below on the middle region of the ramp 7 and lifts the ramp 7 into the position 71 shown by dotted lines. This raises the plane surface of the empty-can car 5 (shown by dotted lines) in such a manner that it slopes down in the direction towards the can changer 2.
In the embodiment shown in Fig. 3, the pneumatic cylinder 9 acts directly on the underside of the emptycan car 5, causing the plane surface of the empty-can car 5 to slope down in the direction towards the can changer 2.
Fig. 4 shows a row of carding machines la to if and a row containing two draw frames 10a, lob. (At least) one transport car 11 for the cans travels back and forward between the carding machines 1 and the draw frames 10. The drive devices (not shown), for example, electric motors for the can changers 2 at the carding machines 1, for the can changers at the draw frame creels of the draw frames 10 and for the car or cars 11 are connected to a common electronic carding and draw frame control device 12. The pneumatic cylinder 9 and the coupling and stopping devices (not shown) for the cars 5, 6, 11 may advantageously also be connected to the control means 12.
While the invention has been described in detail in relation to a carding machine it will be appreciated that the invention may be used in relation to other textile machines and, in particular, the car 6 with full cans 3e to 3g may in accordance with the invention be associated with the draw frame 10 in such a manner that the plane surface of the car 6 slopes down in the direction towards the draw frame 10, with the result that the full cans 3e to 3g automatically pass into the draw frame creel of the draw frame 10.
