908,720. Rollers. MAK MASCHINENBAU KIEL A.G. Sept. 4, 1959 [Sept. 6, 1958], No. 30244/59. Class 42 (2). A roll 2 for cards and teasels has only two carrier plates 1 arranged in the interior thereof and disposed at a distance apart of approximately 61% of the entire roll length, the overhanging roll ends being self-supporting, and is provided with bearings 4 arranged in pot-shaped bearing flanges 3, the arrangement being such that the deflection of the roll at the centre and at the ends is substantially equal and corresponds to the deflection of a beam resting, with overhanging ends, on two supports. The roll may be supported on short journals 5 or long journals 6 and drive means may be provided in one of the pot-shaped bearing housings. The securing of the carrier plates 1 to roll 2 may be effected by welding, riveting, screwing, shrinkage, &c.
