Abstract

907,446. Disc brakes. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. March 6, 1959 [March 27, 1958], No. 9792/58. Class 103 (1). In a disc brake a piston 9 is actuated by fluid pressure and acts on a pressure plate 15 to apply braking pressure. In order that, due to wear of the brake lining, the piston shall not have excessive travel, the plate 15 is provided with a series of steps 16, 17, 18, repeated around its circumference, and the piston may be provided with complementary steps 12, 13, 14. With new linings, as shown in Fig. 3, the steps 14, 18 engage and upon wear, the steps 14, 17 engage by rotation of the plate 15 ; the plate 15 has lugs 20 and may be connected to appropriate lugs on the end plate 3 by a member 21.
