Abstract

906,905. Walls; wall slabs. HAHN, A. Jan. 6, 1959 [Jan. 8, 1958], No. 460/59. Classes 20 (4) and 87 (1). A wall is assembled from slabs 1 which are spaced apart by wedge members 4 fitting into tapered, preferably undercut, grooves 2 in each slab and are held together by tie-bars 7 provided with pointed dowels 8. The slab may have undercut grooves 12 on its sides, holes 13 and recesses 11 for the dowels, undercut grooves on its longitudinal edges. The wedge members 4 are tapered in their lower halves at 5 or each slab 1 may be provided with a second row of grooves extending up from its lower edge and the members 4 are then correspondingly tapered in both their lower and upper halves. The space between the slabs may be filled with a setting foam material based on urea and formaldehyde and such foam may be confined to an insulating layer 25 by plates 24 fitting in grooves 17 in the wedge members. The wall may incorporate a skeleton structure of reinforced concrete 26 cast in situ with a ceiling and contained by form plates of fibreboard. Alternatively (Fig. 13, not shown) ceiling beams having transverse horizontal apertures arranged perpendicular to interfitting longitudinal tongued and grooved edges may be used. The central member of the tie-bar 7 may comprise one or more plasticcoated wires having eyelets at each end to receive the dowels 8.
