Abstract

861,374. Concrete structures; facing slabs; shuttering for casting walls. READE, H. J., and CREEDON, C. April 27, 1959 [Feb. 20, 1959], No. 14292/59. Classes 20(2), 20(4) and 87(1) A concrete structure is cast between temporary shuttering 4, Fig. 4, and stone facing slabs 1 each of which is provided with one or more recesses or slots 3 for keying with the concrete. In the exemplified embodiment the slots 3 are of dovetail form extending from the top longitudinal edge of the slab to a horizontal recess 2, Fig. 1, extending along the bottom of the slab. The temporary shuttering 4 and the slabs 3 are connected by bolts 8 engaging internally screw threaded spacer members 6 having flexible skirts 7, the bolts 8 on the slab side of the structure being positioned at the corner junctions of the slabs. The spacer member 6 is bored less than half way through from each end to prevent transmission of moisture through the wall.
