Classes 20 (4) and 87 (1) In a cavity wall comprising blocks A formed in their inner faces with dovetailed grooves B, C to receive the correspondingly shaped ends D' of tie members D, the grooves B, C taper in width from top to bottom and the grooves B are wider than the grooves C so that when the blocks A are laid in bond, the end D<SP>1</SP> of a member D fits into the lower end B<SP>1</SP> of a groove B and the upper end C' of a groove C. The grooves B, C may decrease in depth from top to bottom.
