895,435. Building blocks, walls and lintels. BURNS, J. Jan. 11, 1961 [Jan. 22, 1960], No. 2377/60. Classes 20(4) and 87(1) In a block having apertures 2, 3, 4 separated by webs 5, 6, the web 5 and optionally the web 6 has on one side only at either the top or bottom edge a lip 5<SP>6</SP> providing a finger hold. The block is of light or heavy concrete or of burnt clay and is provided on its top and bottom faces with arcuate grooves 8 and with end grooves 7. Vertical grooves are said to be provided on the outerfaces to facilitate breaking into smaller parts. In a building an expansion joint may be formed by placing plastics material between the end grooves 7 of adjacent blocks. A pier, in a wall or a lintel may be formed from the blocks, the apertures being filled with concrete and reinforcing bars.
