Abstract
906,128. Electric positional control. WEISHEIT, G. Nov. 7, 1960 [April 6, 1960 (2)], No. 38147/60. Class 40(1). [Also in Group XXIX] An electromagnetically-actuated valve comprises a valve closure connected to a core of a servomotor and to a dashpot which damps the movement of the valve closure. The servomotor is constructed as a double solenoid, the coils of which at their mid-points are connected to one pole of a source of current and at their free terminals are connected to one another through a potentiometer and are connected through said potentiometer to the other pole of said source. In the embodiment shown, the core 3c is associated with two solenoids 3a, 3b and connected to a diaphragm of the dashpot which is formed by chambers 7a, 7b interconnected by one or two pipes 6 provided with a throttle. The coils of the solenoid have their mid-point connected to one pole of a current source 10 while the free terminals 11, 12 are connected to a potentiometer 15, having series resistors 15a, 15b, which is connected to the other pole of the source 10. In this manner, the valve closure may be positioned by an adjustable member 17 which may be actuated by a fluid pressure signal X fed to a bellows connected to the member 17. Movement of the core 3c acts through a lever 23 and spring 22 to provide a feedback. In a modification, the bellows acts directly against a spring and in a further modification, the member 17 is adjusted by an electric motor. The dashpot may be replaced by electrical damping means.
