928,616. Fluid-pressure servomotor control systems; valves. RECHERCHES ETUDES PRODUCTION R.E.P. March 1, 1961 [March 2, 1960; Feb. 16, 1961], No. 7560/61. Class 135. The first stage of a two-stage hydraulic relay valve comprises a magnetic plate actuated by a torque motor and mounted on a torsion tube and connected by a shaft disposed in said tube to a flapper plate which co-operates with at least one pair of nozzles connected respectively to chambers of the second stage value and to fluid under pressure. In the first example, Figs. 1 and 2, the magnetic plate 1 is actuated by a torque motor comprising two parts 4, 5 which define air gaps 2 and 3 in which the plate 1 is located, the parts 4, 5 being polarized by a permanent magnet 6 and the plate 1 being embraced by two signal-receiving coils 7 and 8. The plate 1 is fixed by a screw 13 to a tube 11 and a shaft 10 which are also fixed by a screw 14 to a flapper plate 9. The tube 11 is integral with a fixed support member 12 and the flapper 9 co-operates with two pairs of nozzles 15, 16 and 17, 18 connected as shown in Fig. 1 to the chambers 21, 22 of the second stage valve 23 and receiving fluid under pressure via orifices 24, 25. The provision of two pairs of nozzles provides inherent damping of parasitic vibrations. The parts are assembled as shown in Fig. 3. In another example, Fig. 8, only one pair of nozzles 16, 17 is used and the flapper plate 9 is connected to a fixed support 32 by a thin plate 31 which damps parasitic vibrations.
