Abstract

904,781. Shuttering for casting cavity walls. FAMA, B. A., and POOL, T. M. June 12, 1959, No. 20243/59. Class 20 (2). Shuttering for cavity walls comprises spacing spreaders 1, adjustable in length, on the upper edges of the opposed shuttering 2 and engaging the inner and outer sides thereof, removable cavity cores 26 supported by vertical members 25 and members 27 which position the cores relatively to the spreaders 1 and the shuttering. The spreaders 1, engaging the shutters by shoulders 5 and end-pieces 12, comprise two parts 3, 4 having tongue-and-groove engagement held together by a bolt 11 passing through bores in the two parts. The spreaders hold in position shutter aligning bars 15. The bolt engages one end of the spreader by an adjustable collar 19. The length of the spreader is adjustable by means of spacers 21 inserted on the bolt 11 between the parts 3, 4 with which they have tongue-and-groove engagement. The members 25 of H-section provide grooves in which are slid cores 26 for forming the wall cavities and are held in position by the members 27 having tongues 28, Fig. 6, engaging notches 29 in the cores and secured by screws 29a to the spreaders. The members 25 are also held in position by ties 32 engaging reinforcing rod 36 and are left set in the wall. At the bottom, the shutters are spaced by a bolt 40 by means of which the shuttering rests on already set concrete 40a. The shutters have flanges 46, Fig. 9, which may be reinforced by right-angle members 38 and adjacent shutters are connected together by a bolt 49 secured by a nut 50 welded on one shutter and engaged with keyhole slots 45 in the other before tightening. Shutters are connected at an angle to form corners &c. by angle members.
