Abstract

903,225. Ventilators. INTERNATIONAL ANEMOSTAT HOLDING CO. Ltd. April 4, 1961, No. 12015/61. Class 137. In a ventilator used as a directional control device for an air distribution outlet, a rectangular, e.g. square, frusto-pyramidal casing 1 having sloping side walls 2, is connected by a neck extension 4 to a branch duct 5 of a primary supply air system and is positioned within the square opening 9 in the ceiling 10 of an enclosure to be ventilated. Disposed within the confines of the casing 1 are four deflector plates d1, d2, d3, d4 of right isosceles triangular shape. These deflectors are suspended from a pair of crossedsupport straps 11 and 12 detachably mounted to the casing 1 by screws 16. Four pivotal connections or hangers 17 are connected to the support straps, such as by welding, and each deflector is pivotally attached to the horizontally fixed bar 19 of its respective hanger 17 by a bearing clip 23 in a tight frictional engagement. Each deflector can be individually adjusted from the fully open position as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 to the fully closed position when the bottom edge 25 of the deflector abuts against a side wall 2. As shown in Fig. 1, in the open position the air flows through the neck 4 to the passageway 27 formed between a deflector and its respective side wall, and then through a diffuser plate 28 into the enclosure. Flanges 35 are attached to the side walls of each deflector so that when in a closed position no air will be discharged straight downwardly through the diffuser 28. In another embodiment (not shown) the opening is rectangular and the casing 1 is a truncated rectangular pyramid. In this case two opposite deflectors are triangular in shape and the other two have a trapezium shape.
