Abstract
903,174. Casting composite articles. TRIONE & C. S.p.A., G. April 11, 1960 [April 30, 1959], No. 12824/60. Drawings to Specification. Class 83 (1). In a method of lining steel bushings with copper alloys by centrifugal casting, the bushing is heated in a salt bath furnace to a temperature substantially the same as that of the alloy to be cast, the alloy being poured rapidly when the bushing is rotating at centrifuging speed, the article being finally cooled by external applied water jets while still rotating at centrifugal speed. The salt is borax, or a mixture of borax and aluminium or lithium oxides to obtain such a viscosity at the necessary temperature that a coating of the salt adheres to the article when it is transferred from the bath to the centrifuge.
