Abstract

A method of constructing an article of laminated components each including synthetic resin and fibrous material comprises joining together the components by overlapping and/or interleaving marginal portions initially left resin free, impregnating the margins with resin and curing the resin. The resin free margins may be of differing widths and those of one component may be interleaved with those of the other whilst laid on a mould surface, resin then being applied and cured. Alternatively, the laminations of the two components may be complementarily staggered, the joint margins being overlapped so that the edge of a lamination of one component butts against the opposed layer of the other component and overlaps the butt joint of the next adjacent opposed pair; the joint is then the same thickness as either component. The laminations may be of woven glass fibre and the resin a polyester. The margins may be kept initially resin free by a process as described in Specification 898,776.
