A lattice material is made by laying up on a mould or former successive layers, each comprising alternating laths 1 of impregnated fibrous material and laths 2 of removable material, with the lath axes of adjacent layers being at an angle, curing the impregnated material and removing the material 2, e.g. chemically or by heating. The material 2 may be a low melting material, e.g. wax. The material 1 may comprise carbon, glass, boron or acrylonitrile polymer fibres.
