Abstract

The table top consists of a laminate with two external layers of fibre reinforced plastic bonded to a core resistant to compression. The plastic layers may be formed by impregnating a glass fibre matt with a liq. hardenable synthetic resin, placing a plane rigid sheet of particle board is approx. 3 mm thick on the surface and then superimposing another layer of glass fibres impregnated with hardenable resin. The assembly is moulded in the shape of a table top under a press. of is approx. 50 bars at a temp. great enough to harden the resin. The external layers are is approx. 1 mm thick, and are pref. extended to form a rebate at the edge of the table. The laminante provides a strong weather resistant top suitable for prolonged external exposure.
