899,337. Tools for holding spring rings. BLACKBURN ENGINES Ltd., and BAKER, S. D. Dec. 28, 1960, No. 44452/60. Class 61. A tool for placing and removing circlips in bores comprises a body 1, 2 slotted at one end to receive a pair of pivoted, spring loaded jaws 4, 5 which, where they project beyond the end of the body, are cranked, their exposed ends 4<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>1</SP> being shaped to engage in the holes in the ends of a circlip, and a spring-loaded plunger 9 movable in the body to be effective on the internal ends of the jaw members to rock them against their spring loading and to bring their exposed ends nearer together. The jaws are loaded by a resilient ring 8 located in grooves in the body. A ball 14 is interposed between the internal ends of the jaws and the end of the plunger. Displacement of the plunger 9 against the action of its loading spring 10 effects rocking of the jaws. The movement of the plunger is limited by a pin 13 extending transversely therethrough and working in the slot in which the jaws are located.
