Abstract

597,393. Wrenches &c. SIESEL, W. M. June 30, 1944, No. 12461. Convention date, Aug. 18, 1943. [Class 61 (iii)] The bearing member 11 of a torque limiting device fits inside the handle 1 of a wrench &c. and is divided into four parallel segments 13 provided at the inner ends with recesses 14 holding roller bearings 15 which are pressed against the other bearing member 5 by the resilience of the arm(s). The ring bearing member 5 is constructed with internal longitudihal grooves 6 which engage the roller bearings of the member 11 and is fixed in the handle. The shank 8 of the wrench &c. is adjustably fixed to the bearing member 11 by means of the screw 10 and groove 9 to enable the wrench to slip at variable torque indicated by calibrations a ... f. In a modification, the resilient arms are fixed to the handle and a ring having external longitudinal grooves is fixed to the shank.
