Abstract

A petroleum hydrocarbon fuel boiling in the kerosene range or higher has dissolved therein a small amount of a triester of a trialkanolamine and a saturated fatty acid or a salt of such a triester and an organic or mineral acid. The small amount may be from 0,01% to 1% by weight. Suitable trialkanolamines are triethanolamine (which may be the technical product containing mono- and diethanolamine), tripropanolamine and tributanolamine (which may contain mono- and di-amines). The fatty acid component may be stearic acid, palmitic acid, tallow fatty acids, hydrogenated unsaturated fatty acids, or the acids obtained from ocidation of paraffin wax. The salt-forming acid may be stearic, sebacic, benzoic, abietic, naphthenic, o-phthalic, oleic, or orthophosphonic. The hydrocarbon fuel may be a gas oil.
