Abstract
898,196. Pipe joints. WALTERS & DOBSON Ltd. July 30, 1958, [July 30, 1957], No. 24183/57. Class 99(1). [Also in Groups XIX and XXIX] A pipe joint used as an adaptor or connector for a fluid pressure gauge comprises a valve chamber 11 constructed so that when fluid enters through an inlet 12 a hollow piston valve 16, adapted for forward and return movement in the chamber 11 and carrying a non-return valve 20 at the axis thereof, operates to close a port 15 connected to a pressure gauge and the fluid passes to an outlet 13 but when the pressure is greater at the outlet 13 than at the inlet 12 the valve 16 prevents fluid passing from the outlet 13 to the inlet 12 and opens the port 15 to allow fluid pressure to pass into the gauge, the valve 20 being operable at the forward end of the movement of the valve 16. The valve 20 comprises a ball normally urged against a seating 21 by a spring 23. Cup washers 18 form a seal to close the port 15. In a modification, Fig. 2, two sealing rings 31, 37 are provided to close the port 38 when fluid enters through an inlet 33 and the piston valve 30 is pushed against the sealing ring 37.
