Abstract

897,248. Overhead travelling cranes. SCHARF G.m.b.H., HEINRICH. April 8, 1960, No. 12658/60. Classes 78 (4) and 104 (2). A cable-operated overhead monorail conveyer has a cable-drum 27, Fig. 1, connected to the trolleys 17, 18 which carries spare cable and receives surplus cable when the driving cable is shortened. As described, the trolleys are connected by a telescopic member 25 and each carries a hoist. The upper and lower surfaces of adjacent rails are connected by ball- and-socket joints 7, 6, Fig. 3, respectively. The lower ball is rigidly attached to the rail by a strap 4, whilst the upper ball is mounted on a strap 8 slidable in a fixed guide 9. The two sockets may each comprise two similar complementary parts secured together and to the rail. A distance-piece may be interposed between the parts.
