Abstract

Textiles or foils of linear aromatic polyesters or cellulose triacetate are dyed with disperse dyestuffs in the presence of an ester of a phenoxysubstituted aliphatic monocarboxylic acid of 1-5 carbon atoms or of a phenoxy-thionocarboxylic acid of the general formula <FORM:0896938/IV (c)/1> in which R is an alkylene radical of 1-4 carbon atoms and n is 0 or 1 with, for example, an aliphatic alcohol containing 1-5 carbon atoms. The phenoxy group of the ester may be substituted with, for example, halogen atoms or nitro or alkyl groups. The esters are dispersed in the aqueous dyebath with the aid of anionic or non-ionic dispersing agents. Dyeing is preferably effected at the boil.
