Abstract

Linear aromatic polyester fibres and cellulose triacetate fibres are dyed with disperse acetate dyes in the presence of a carrier comprising a mixture of dimethyl terephthalate and benzanilide in the proportion of 1 : 3 to 3 : 1 by weight. The dyebath which is employed at the boil may also contain anionic, cationic or non-ionic dispersing agents. Blends of polyester and nylon fibres may be dyed by also incorporating an anionic nylon dye in the bath.
