[Also in Group XXXI] A single-axle, walk-type tractor has a driving motor and a set of gears including a reverse gear situated in front of the axle 2 and a set of gears for some of the speed changes situated behind the axle, a shaft 3 capable of being coupled with the shaft 5 of the motor by a clutch 4 and having two parts 6, 7 capable of being coupled by a sliding gear 21, and a shaft 24 connected with the axle by bevel gears 28, 29 and provided with a set of sliding gears 25, 26. First and second gear are obtained by connecting the parts 6, 7 through gears 14, 19 and 20, 21 and sliding the gears 25, 26 for engagement with the gear 15 or 16 while third and fourth gear are obtained by again sliding the gears 25, 26 after the gear 21 has been brought into engagement with keyways 23 to couple the parts 6, 7 direct. The sliding gear 25, 26 also provides a two-speed reverse-drive when rotation of the part 7 is reversed by engagement of the gear 19 with an intermediate gear 34 driven by a gear 13 on the part 6. An additional step-down gear (not shown) may be connected to the shafts 7 and 24 by the couplings 32 and 33 and be provided with a coupling for power take-off.
