Abstract

1470912 Change-speed gear KLOCKNERHUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AG 28 Jan 1975 [1 Feb 1974] 3667/75 Heading F2D A change-speed gear having two gear trains in series comprises a main gearbox 6 having aligned input and output shafts 5, 13 respectively which can be coupled together by a clutch 24 for direct drive, having a layshaft 14 driven at the same, or a higher, speed than input shaft 5 and carrying gears meshing with gears on the output shaft for other ratios, an auxiliary gearbox 7 having a gear 31 meshing with a gear 21 on the output shaft 13 of gearbox 6 for forward drive, the gear 21 also meshing with a gear 32 on a shaft 34 for reverse drive. The main gearbox 6 provides five forward ratios, selected by clutches 22, 24 and 27, and the output shaft 13 drives the auxiliary gearbox 7 through one of three gears 21,28 and 29 engaging gears 31, 38 and 39 in the auxiliary gearbox. The auxiliary gearbox 7 provides for forward ratios and reverse depending on the operation of clutches 37, 41 and 46. A layshaft 43 provides a very low gear for creep when clutch 46 operates to clutch a gear 45 to the output shaft 30, when the drive is from shaft 13 via gears 29, 39, 40, 42, 44 and 45 to output shaft 30. A power take-off shaft 48 is provided, driven through a portion 4 of a double clutch 2 which also clutches the input shaft 5 to an engine. The final drive to vehicle wheels 12 is by way of a differential 9 and reduction gearing 10 to two half-shafts 11. A further output from output shaft 30 can be taken from a gear 47.
