Abstract
1463920 Change speed gear KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AG 28 Feb 1975 [2 March 1974] 8443/75 Heading F2D In a transmission, for an agricultural or constructional vehicle, an auxiliary change speed gear 4, ahead of and in series with a main change speed gear 5, provides one reverse and two forward ratios, selectable under load by two fluid-pressure-operated selective friction clutches, of which one, 1, is the main input clutch, whilst the other, 15, is on a countershaft 14 directly driven by the input 2 through a wheel pair 12, 13 by-passing the main clutch 1. Thus engagement of the main clutch 1 provides a direct drive to the output shaft 20 of the auxiliary gear, whilst disengagement of the main clutch 1 and engagement of the countershaft clutch 15 drives the output shaft 20 at a different forward ratio through a wheel pair 19, 21, or at a single reverse ratio through a wheel train 24, 25, 26, according to the setting of a double synchromeshed clutch 27. The wheel 26 also forms the input of a pair 26, 31, driving a countershaft 32 of the main change speed gear 5, which drives an output shaft 29, aligned with the auxiliary output shaft 20, at direct drive or three reduced ratios 33, 34, 35, selected by synchromeshed clutches 37, 40. The road wheels 11 are driven through reducing pairs 9, differential 8 and bevel gears 7, by the final output shaft of an output change speed gear 6, which shaft is driven from the main gear output shaft 29 at a normal field ratio through a wheel pair 41, 43; at a highway ratio through a pair 45, 46; at a slow field ratio through a pair 47, 48; or at a creep ratio through wheels 47, 48, 50, 54, countershaft 53 and wheels 55, 56, these ratios being selected by two double and one single synchromeshed clutches 44, 52, 57. A power take-off shaft 75 is driven at two speeds (540 and 1000 r.p.m.) selected by a double clutch 77, through a side shaft 60, engine driven through a wheel pair 12, 61, the shaft 60 carrying the reverse idler 25, and driving also through wheels 63, 64, a pump and compressor, and, through wheels 65, 66, and a friction clutch 68, the power take-off shaft 75.
