Abstract

1463335 Change-speed gear KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AG 23 Aug 1974 [30 Aug 1973] 37227/74 Heading F2D A drive transmission for vehicles, e.g. as used in agriculture or building construction, has a number of selectable primary gear paths between an input shaft and an intermediate shaft, and a plurality of secondary gear paths between the intermediate shaft and an output shaft, a plurality of the primary gear paths driving the intermediate shaft at lower speeds than the input shaft, a further one of the primary gear paths driving the intermediate shaft at a higher speed than the input shaft, and another one of the primary gear paths providing reverse drive. An engine-driven clutch 2 has a plate 4 for a power take-off shaft 53 and a plate 3 driving an input shaft 5 on which is fixed a gear-wheel 14. The primary gear paths provide four forward ratios and one reverse ratio as follows. Drive in the lowest, or creep, ratio takes place through wheels 14, 15, a hollow shaft 17, wheels 18, 20, a hollow shaft 21 rotatable on the intermediate shaft 22, wheels 44, 42, a hollow shaft 41, wheels 43, 45 and a pin-type clutch 46 which is slidable on splines on the shaft 22. Low ratio is established by a dog clutch 33 which couples the hollow shaft 21 to the shaft 22 through a wheel 23 fixed thereon so that drive is transmitted through wheels 14, 15, 18, 20. Medium ratio is established by a dog clutch 34 which couples the hollow shaft 17 to a wheel 27 so that drive takes place through wheels 14, 15, 27, 23, and fast ratio, in which the intermediate shaft 22 is driven faster than the input shaft, is established through a dog clutch 39 which couples a wheel 38 to a shaft 36 so that drive is transmitted through wheels 14, 37, 38, and a wheel 25 fixed to the shaft 22. An optional further ratio may be obtained by providing a dog clutch for coupling the input shaft 5 direct to the intermediate shaft 22. Reverse drive takes place through a wheel 49 in mesh with the wheel 14, a dog clutch 51, and wheels 50, 29, 25. The wheel 49 may alternatively mesh with the wheel 20. Four secondary gear paths between the intermediate shaft 22 and the output shaft 16 are provided by dog clutches 31, 32 by which any of wheels 27, 28, 29, 30, in mesh with wheels 23, 24, 25, 26 fixed to the shaft 22, may be made fast with the shaft 16. The shaft 16 drives road wheels 12 through bevel gearing 8, a differential 9 and reduction gearing 10. A second output may be taken from a wheel 52 fixed to the shaft 16.
