Abstract

773,448. Tractor driving gear. MOTO-STANDARD GES. Aug. 2, 1955 [Aug. 2, 1954], No. 22113/55. Class 79(2). [Also in Group XXIV] Change speed gearing for a tractor has a two-speed gear in series with the normal change-speed gearing and on the shaft of the two-speed gear is a reversing gear at least one of the gear wheels of which intercalates into the space between the wheels of the normal change-speed mechanism. A hollow driven shaft 17 has gears 18, 19 engageable with gears 14, 15, 16, on a shaft 7 to form a normal three speed gear. A compound gear 11 on a shaft 8 engageable with gears. 12, 13, on shaft 7 forms a two speed gear in series with the three speed gear. Also on the shaft 8 are gears 21, 22, driven in opposite directions from an engine driven shaft 3. A clutch 23 engages one or other of the gears 21, 22 to the shaft 8. As shown, the gear 21 extends into the space between the gears 15, 16. The three speed gear has the usual reversing pinion 20. The driven shaft 17 has a worm 30 driving a worm wheel 31 within which is a limited differential 34. Shafts 35, 36, emerging from the differential drive road wheel shafts 39, 40 through reduction gearing 37, 41, and 38, 42. A power take-off shaft 2 passes through the hollow shaft 17 and this may be driven directly from the shaft 8 through gearing 9, 29, or from the hollow shaft 17 by actuation of a clutch member 28. A towing bar pivoted on the floor 43 of the gear casing 1 is guided in a horizontal slot 47 in an extension 48 of the rear cover 10 of the casing 1.
