Abstract

894,893. Centrifugal fans. SVENSKA FLAKTFABRIKEN A.B. June 25, 1959 [July 8, 1958], No. 21841/59. Class 110 (1). In a centrifugal fan handling air or gases containing abrasive material, each blade comprises two parts 3a, 4a mutually displaced in the circumferential direction and overlapping in the longitudinal direction by an amount L at least equal to the mutual displacement d, which in turn is approximately 5 to 15%, preferably 10%, of the blade pitch D. On rotation of the fan impeller in the direction of the arrow, dust entrained in the gas stream is concentrated against the front side of each blade part 3a and flows along the rear side of each blade part 4a and leaves the periphery of the impeller without impinging on the front side of the following blade. This reduces erosive wear.
