In an A.C. generator having a stationary field system 13 surrounding a stationary armature system 19, an interdigitated rotor cage 21, which is interposed between the two systems, comprises two parts A and B which are secured together by filling the interstices between the rotor fingers with non-magnetic material. This material for example: aluminium, brass, or a thermo-setting synthetic resin, is cast into the interstices between the rotor fingers, the surfaces of the fingers coming into contact with the casting being grooved or serrated.
