Class 64(1) In a thermal regenerator plate pack in which deeply and contiguously corrugated plates 8 alternate with "flat" plates 6 to form flow channels 13, the plate material of all the plates is formed over the whole area thereof with shallow corrugations 7 extending in a flatly oblique direction transversely of the length of the plates, so that, as shown, the shallow corrugations 7 appear in all the plate portions forming the boundary walls of the flow channels 13. The plates in a pack may be bound together by metal bands and when, e.g. the packs are used in compartments of a rotary matrix the radial width of each successive pack in any one compartment of the rotor may decrease in a direction radially outwardly from the rotor axis. Also packs may be superimposed in the rotor compartments.
