Abstract

1,197,659. Thermal regenerators. AIR PREHEATER CO. Inc. 12 Dec., 1968 [14 Dec., 1967], No. 59193/68. Heading F4K. In a rotary thermal regenerator of the type having a rotor 10 divided into sector shaped compartments containing heat transfer material 14 by radial partitions 11, heated air leaves the regenerator through a rectangular outlet duct 18 which is subdivided by a partition member 22 into two duct sections 24, 26 each having offtakes (not shown) provided at the end walls 19, 23 for the respective heated air streams. The partition member 22 is shaped so that the duct 24 communicates with the area 27 and duct 26 with the area 29 above the rotor. The hottest heated air from the rotor entering the duct 18 at A therefore mixes with the relatively colder heated air entering at B so that the average temperature of the heated air in the duct section 24 is substantially the same as that in the duct section 26 which receives its heated air from the area 29 viz. the heated air entering at C and D.
