Abstract
1344589 Thermal regenerators H BRANDT and A KRITZLER [trading as APPARATEBAU ROTHEMUHLE BRANDT & KRITZLER] 7 Feb 1972 [10 Feb 1971] 5586/72 Heading F4K In a thermal regenerator of the stationary matrix and rotary cowl type for heat exchange between air and flue gases, each cowl has a plurality of symmetrically arranged sectors (two in the form shown) and the arrangement comprises at one end of the matrix a rotary cowl 5 conveying air via the matrix to a stationary air outlet duct 3 at the other end of the matrix, said duct 3 encircling a rotary cowl 2 conveying flue gases via the matrix to a stationary gas outlet duct 4 encircling the rotary air inlet cowl 5. The respective rotary cowls 2, 5 are offset from each other by 90 degrees as indicated in Figs. 3 and 4 wherein G denotes the gas path and L the air path. The fluid inlet ends of the rotary cowls are centrally disposed along the regenerator axis and have connections 6, 7 for the entry from stationary ducting of flue gases and air respectively. The gas and air streams G and L may alternatively flow in directions opposite to those shown in Fig. 2.
